Becoming a model for sustainable regional development
In 2007, UNESCO has designated the greater Baie-Comeau region as a Biosphere Reserve, which today tailors a model for sustainable regional development on the international scale.
Baie-Comeau Port Corporation is an ambassador of this vision. This guides it in its sustainable development policies and fundamental values ​​which are respected in each of its actions.

Moreover, we recognize that port activities are possible because of Pessamit Nitassinan exploitation. In this context, an agreement has been signed between the Port Corporation and the Innu Council in 2016 to improve communities development with respect for the Nitassinan.
To implement its sustainable development vision, the Port Corporation has undertaken several projects:

Partnership framework and development agreement with the Innu Council of Pessamit;

Establishment of permanent advisory committees with all port stakeholders;

Support policy for the community and for structuring socio-economic projects

Local and responsible procurement policy

Development of research initiatives in the Baie des Anglais, in collaboration with universities and research institutes
